Scope

This course aims at providing Passenger Ship Familiarisation in accordance with the relevant provisions of Section AV/3 of the STCW Code. This course has formerly been called the "Passenger Ship (Crowd Management) Course".

Its comprises of a basic training programme appropriate to their duties, in including basic training for oil tanker safety, fire safety measures, pollution prevention, safe operational practices and obligations under applicable law and regulations. In accordance with the IMO Model course 1.28, this course will now be called the 'Crowd Management, Passenger Safety and Safety Training for Personnel providing direct services to Passengers in Passenger Spaces' Course, abbreviated in these guidelines to "Crowd Management Course".

This course are to provide the student with the knowledge and skill in controlling a crowd in an emergency situation, locate essential safety and emergency equipment on board, communicate effectively with passengers during an emergency, demonstrate the use of personal life saving appliances and comply with the ship's safety and emergency procedures.
